AFTERCARE

Tattoo Aftercare

At Cove Studios, we we typically use a product like Second Skin (or Tatuderm, Saniderm, etc.). We advise that you keep this applied bandage on for a minimum of 3 days, or until it falls off. If you are having a reaction to the bandage, please remove and wash the area. If some of the adhesive from the bandage is still left on tattoo, you can lighting rub some coconut or olive oil to remove the excess.

After gently removing bandage, wash tattoo and surrounding area with unscented soap and water. Do this twice daily to keep area clean.

Lightly dry tattoo and apply a thin layer of a unscented lotion (Ex. Aquaphor). Avoid letting your tattoo dry up/form a scab.

DO NOT USE a+d ointment, Vaseline, or other thick or medical ointments.

Avoid direct sunlight, swimming, tanning, hot tubs, baths, long showers, etc. until the tattoo has healed.

Avoid picking, scratching or any other form of abrasive contact of the tattooed area as it heals.

Piercing Aftercare

Clean piercing day and night with a Saline solution (available at any pharmacy). Use toilet paper or gauze to clean the area. Avoid using cotton balls or Q-Tips as the cotton can get caught in the jewelry and impact healing.

Do not twist, touch, or remove jewelry until the piercing has healed. This will help the piercing to heal quicker and prevent it from getting irritated.

Do not pick at crust or dried blood on piercing. This is completely normal to have as the ear is trying to heal. This will wash off/flake off when you clean it or take a shower.

Wait a minimum of 2 month to change jewelry. We suggest you come back in after a few month to get your bar shortened on your jewelry.

Avoid dunking head in water, especially in a pool or hot tub for a few weeks during the initial healing process.
